Help with winding up my film?

I have an Olympus OM-10 35mm film camera, and I'm having some trouble putting in the film. I inserted the film into the slot, then I pulled free some of the film so I can attach it to the spool. I can see part of the film slightly coming out the other end, however when I wind the film, it won't budge. I tried closing the camera's back, but that didn't help at all. What am I doing wrong? City, everything is close by stores and action. Not everyone knows your business. More variety of interesting people, can get things done for less with competing companies and have had bad experience with country folks bigotry if your not originally from their town. If you don't like the people around you it is easy to go too or hang out in a different area and not have to drive 10 miles or more where no one knows you.

What do I do when I hate a trip?

I'm gonna sound like a brat but my parents sent me on this trip to Taiwan for some camp for a whole month, and I really don't want to be here. I have problem with my Olympus SD Card?

35mm Film Camera advice - Pentax ME Super, Minolta X-300 or Olympus OM series?

I would agree with everything in the previous answer, but if you don't need or want full auto, and prefer something that doesn't need batteries except for the meter, then the Pentax MX is a good choice. Less bulky than the K1000, and similar in size and general design to the ME Super. The Pentax K-mount is excellent for compatibility both forwards and backwards: not only can you use Pentax lenses from 1985 onwards on modern dSLR's like the K5, but more importantly for anyone using a K-mount Pentax film SLR, modern lenses made for FX format dSLR's will fit old Pentaxes. For landscape work I use a Sigma EX DG 12-24mm on a Pentax MX, giving me a viewing angle that would have been the stuff of science-fiction when the camera was new. The myth that you can't use modern (digital camera) lenses on film slr's is just that: a myth. Image quality from the Sigma on Velvia 50 is outstanding.

Olympus Stylus Tough-6000 screen shut off after taking a picture?

I went to the pool today and it worked just fine. I used it a couple of times afterwards (I had dried it off), and it was working fine also. Then when I went to take a picture a few minutes ago, the screen started turning off by itself and then working again. Right now after I took out the memory card, it made a weird sound, and when I went to turn it on, it did, but the screen stayed off. I opened the battery compartment to see if something was wrong, and there were drops of water on the battery. I have no idea where they came from. What Helps You the Most When You're Having True Suicidal Thoughts?

I think it's a great idea that you write articles aimed at preventing suicide. While these articles wont reach everyone who probably needs to read them it will reach some and that could be just one more person saved because they were given one more thing to consider before they made such an irreversible decision. Personally I've never had what I would call a suicide attempt. The furthest I've ever had these kinds of thoughts go into becoming action was choosing a weapon and deciding how to use it. I didn't go through with it for a number of reasons. The biggest one probably being that I had read articles discussing things to think about before you do something like this. It seems cliche, everybody tells you that when you do something like that it hurts more than you. You aren't the one that suffers or has to live with your decision, instead it's your family and people who may care about you (I didn't have any friends then ). I read something online, in a Chicken Soup book for teenagers and had seen a documentary at my mom's school about teen suicide and they had all said something along those lines. Every time I've ever thought about killing myself it would hurt me to think about how my family would be affected. At the time I described earlier, I was going to do it in my bedroom and I couldn't help but think about how my family would have felt coming home from work and school to find me like that, how they wouldn't have been able to live there anymore, how they might blame themselves and how scared my brothers would have been. I opted instead to go outside and play baseball and I left the knife on the tv. My mom and one of my brothers came home before I went back in so I didn't have the chance to change my mind. The other thing you see on these sites is that they always say if you're afraid, having second thoughts or wishing you had someone to tell then you probably don't want to do it. I've always been scared and I think it's this fear that sparks debates in my head and directs me away from the impulsiveness that typically coincides with successful suicide attempts. I'm the kind of person that one thought leads to another so it becomes a seemingly endless cascade of thoughts which forces me to assess the pros and cons of the situation. So for me knowing that my fear suggests that I don't want to do that forces me to think more logically which decreases the chances greatly that I'm not going to just act on a whim. I think knowing that there is help out there is encouraging for many but it does little for me. I have other problems that would preclude me from seeking help on a helpline or calling a doctor. When I see a therapist or am asked questions about these kinds of thoughts I never admit having them. Personal experience would be really good on a site like that, people saying that they've been there and can share detailed stories that others can relate to. Good luck with your endeavor, it will be a blessing to many.

Eon blew up my computer should they pay compensation?

i was working from home the other day when there was a bang from outside and all the electric went off in my house, i went outside to see what was going on and eon had dug up the electric cables beside our semi house, in the rain i might add, i asked what was going on and they said they were fixing a reported fault, we have had no problems but they were digging right outside next door. from the hole was smouldering smoke and a very strong smell of burning. i asked why they had not informed us there was a possibility that the power would go out as i was using my computer at the time, they were very flippant and said the power out had affected the entire estate and that to inform everyone would have taken an entire day and they didnt have the staff to spare, anyhow long story short when i tried to turn on my pc the next day it was completely dead, i emailed eon and told them what had happened and that the power surge had burnt out my power supply on the pc as i was told by the pc repair shop and they have emailed me back saying thankyou for your concerns we have forwarded your email and someone will contact me in 10 days, however now it turns out that its more than the power supply that is fried but the mother board and something else, the pc repair shop are saying for the age of the pc it would be cheaper to replace it than to repair it, i also need to replace the surge protector socket it was plugged into as that is also fried. i cannot afford a new computer and i cannot afford to get it repaired and i need it for work, im a single parent working 2 jobs to support my kids, should i really have to be out of pocket for something that was entirely not my fault or should eon pay for a new pc? im using a crappy netbook i borrowed at the moment but its no good for work as its too tiny to fit the programms i need

My boyfriend want to move out but still be together..because of my kids.?

I just went through a really easy divorce...for me, but it was difficult for my kids. They are still trying to deal with it. My ex doesn't see them, and now my new boyfriend has moved in with us. The kids fight all the time, and it lately seems like someone is always yelling. He and I get along very well, fight rarely, and always show affection and care for each other, and I am very happy. We have been trying together to get the kids settled in, but it has been very dificult (ie. rebellion of my 12 yr. old, constant disobedience, sibling fights, messes, etc.) We don't do anything together as a family anymore and we never enjoy each other's company like we should, but it's not for a lack of trying everything we can think of. My boyfriend told me the other day that he needs to get his own apartment, but he doesn't want anything to change between us. He says it's just not healthy for us to be angry all the time and I agree. He feels like taking himself out of the home would just ease some of the tension for the kids and supposedly up. He says he loves me, more than he has ever loved anyone, and that he want's us to eventually be able to move back in together and be happy. I don't dispute that it may ease some of the tension, for him and the kids, but I only see it getting harder on me, which will bring the tension back up in the home. Should I try to make him see this. He is dead set on leaving, has even rented an apartment already. He will most likely be moving out in a day or two. Should I just let it go and see what happends, should I negotiate, beg, I know it doesn't sound smart to do but I really am afraid that he will realize he is happier and just move on. I have read that the best thing I can do is just agree, act like it's fine with me, and let it happen. Experts even say that I should go on about my life, fill it with people that make me happy, and I agree with that too, but I don't know about the rest. It says that I should pull away a little, make him chase me some, and be less "available" to him, thereby making him want me more. I don't feel right about using "tactics" to get him to be happy with me, and I have trouble not wanting to try it at the same time because it has been proven to work. I especially don't want him to think that I care less and am being flippant about it, but it seems like it is the best way to handle it. Any advice? What are your opinions?

Best attractions/activities in New Zealand South Island?

Christchurch, even after the devastating earthquakes is still a lovely city. If you travel round the port hills you can see for miles. You can drive from there to the hot springs at Hanmer, the West Coast is only a few hours drive away with Arthur's Pass kinda in the middle of the journey and the scenery through there is stunning although I would have to say you cant beat Christchurch in Spring. September is beautiful with all the flowers out so you will miss that but it should still be pretty. It can get fairly hot Jan to March (I was there in Jan 05 it got over 40 degrees) The top of the South Island north of Kaikoura has its own attractions, Nelson is very laid back almost hippy like (but in a good way) I could go on for hours about the South Island but you get the joy of experiencing it for yourself. Audio transfer from headphone jack to mic jack...?

I have the Olympus VN-6000pc digital recorder. This model does not have a usb port for easy file transfers. I bought a 3.5mm audio cable to connect the headphone jack on the recorder to the microphone on my laptop. I am using Audicity software which is supposed to be the best freeware available for audio editing; however I receive a ton of noise after the file has been transferred. I have also tried playing the recording directly to the laptop mic and that is much more clear, but I am not satisfied with it as the sound is much clearer directly from the recorder itself. Plus any background noise will be included in the recording as the file is being recorded with just a mic. That is the reason I want to use a cable. Is there any settings that will reduce the background noise to give me the clearest possible recording on my laptop? Will changing the sample rate improve the clarity? Any other tricks I can try?

Veterinary malpractice . . . what should I do?

that is sad and the vet clearly did something wrong, otherwise why offer free services ... if he did nothing wrong he would be expecting every single dime ... but the reality is reporting a crappy vet is like reporting a crappy cop ... vets are managed by other vets just like cops are managed by other cops, and just who do you think they will side with ??? you can report all you like but it will make no difference ... it is sad your poor dog is gone and i know you are in the mode to make someone pay or at least acknowledge what happened, but i don't see that happening ... your best bet is to grieve your dog and move on ... even if you sued him, the vet did perform the surgery and would still be entitled to be payment unless it could be proven he screwed up and you will never prove that though i am sure he did screw up ... the only way to prove would be to have a necropsy which is not possible where you are ... they cover their asses well those vets ... and don't be surprised if you receive falsified records ... i did when my vet screwed up and the veterinary association basically laughed at me ... just get on with your life ... really sorry about your dog ...

Everyone struggles when they are a teen...even if they don't admit it to people. As a physically handicapped teenager (16 years old) I know what you mean. f you don't want to buy a brand new camera I suggest just using the manual focus.It's difficult to get the hang of it at first, but I find manual focus gets my pictures how I want them and doesn't bother with the electronic side of focusing. Good luck.

Going on a cruise in November. Questions?

I just got off the carnival Imagination cruise and it was great. There are lots of things to do. If you are not sure what to do at the ports they will have an excursion desk on the boat where you can book and pay for different things to do. There is always great shopping also. In cozumel we booked an excursion, and we went for a sailboat ride, snorkeling and went to a beach party for $65. For me the snorkeling alone was well worth it! I went on a diet before my cruise, and all I did was I ate six small meals a day, and I didn't eat any breads, potatoes, or sweets, and I had no drinks that were over 10 calories, and I lost 7 ibs in about 10 days.

Well yeah it was a bit of a silly remark to make, but my issue would be why you seem to think you have a right to tell this guy to quit smoking!? I assume he is an intelligent adult that is well aware of the risks smoking poses, if he still chooses to smoke that's his choice and you have no right to tell him not to, his life, his health and his body! People that don't do something or don't agree with something always want to stick their views and opinions onto others. If you kept your beak out of his in first place business you would not have been in a position to make that flippant remark! Dead/Stuck pixels on camera screen?

I have an Olympus X43, bought about 2 years ago (so no warranty), with a significant area of pixel damage to the LCD screen. I think is because we are like polar opposites. Some one both side can meet in the middle and discuss politely but a larger majority just bicker over who's right and who's wrong. On an Olympus stylus tough 6020 how do you switch to 14M image size?

I have an olympus tough 6020 and i cannot switch to 14M image size. Every time i try to switch from 8M to 14M it alerts me and says that I have conflicting settings on the camera. I have gone through and switched all the relevant settings that I know of and still no luck. I am sure this is a user error but I cant figure it out. Any suggestions?

I went to Jacob Riis Park (the beach) on Long Island yesterday afternoon, and after half an hour in the water I noticed these gross, tiny, 1/8th inch long little black bugs. I shrieked, and ran out of the water, seriously. Also, in the water I saw multiple small jellyfish-like organisms that did not sting. What are both of these things, and are they in all beaches? What Helps You the Most When You're Having True Suicidal Thoughts?

I think it's a great idea that you write articles aimed at preventing suicide. While these articles wont reach everyone who probably needs to read them it will reach some and that could be just one more person saved because they were given one more thing to consider before they made such an irreversible decision. Personally I've never had what I would call a suicide attempt. The furthest I've ever had these kinds of thoughts go into becoming action was choosing a weapon and deciding how to use it. I didn't go through with it for a number of reasons. The biggest one probably being that I had read articles discussing things to think about before you do something like this. It seems cliche, everybody tells you that when you do something like that it hurts more than you. You aren't the one that suffers or has to live with your decision, instead it's your family and people who may care about you (I didn't have any friends then ). I read something online, in a Chicken Soup book for teenagers and had seen a documentary at my mom's school about teen suicide and they had all said something along those lines. Every time I've ever thought about killing myself it would hurt me to think about how my family would be affected. At the time I described earlier, I was going to do it in my bedroom and I couldn't help but think about how my family would have felt coming home from work and school to find me like that, how they wouldn't have been able to live there anymore, how they might blame themselves and how scared my brothers would have been. I opted instead to go outside and play baseball and I left the knife on the tv. My mom and one of my brothers came home before I went back in so I didn't have the chance to change my mind. The other thing you see on these sites is that they always say if you're afraid, having second thoughts or wishing you had someone to tell then you probably don't want to do it. I've always been scared and I think it's this fear that sparks debates in my head and directs me away from the impulsiveness that typically coincides with successful suicide attempts. I'm the kind of person that one thought leads to another so it becomes a seemingly endless cascade of thoughts which forces me to assess the pros and cons of the situation. So for me knowing that my fear suggests that I don't want to do that forces me to think more logically which decreases the chances greatly that I'm not going to just act on a whim. I think knowing that there is help out there is encouraging for many but it does little for me. I have other problems that would preclude me from seeking help on a helpline or calling a doctor. When I see a therapist or am asked questions about these kinds of thoughts I never admit having them. Personal experience would be really good on a site like that, people saying that they've been there and can share detailed stories that others can relate to. Good luck with your endeavor, it will be a blessing to many.
