Pokemon fire red help?

Hello, Im playing fire red and im on island 3..I found lostelle and when i was brought back to her house to talk to her father i left the house without getting the item from her dad..When i came back to get it shes in the house by herself..The dads nowhere to be found and now i cant give anything to celio to get to the sevii islands..Im super lost and need help
