Why is Evangelical Christianity trying so hard to destroy progress?

Their denial of science, and active political posturing against proper education. Their irrational stance on sexuality and reproductive rights. Their hypocritical stance on the definition of religious freedom. Their flippant responses to environmental crisis... the list goes on and on, the US is doomed if this nonsense continues to be tolerated.
