Help with winding up my film?

I have an Olympus OM-10 35mm film camera, and I'm having some trouble putting in the film. I inserted the film into the slot, then I pulled free some of the film so I can attach it to the spool. I can see part of the film slightly coming out the other end, however when I wind the film, it won't budge. I tried closing the camera's back, but that didn't help at all. What am I doing wrong? Please help!
