Personal Statement Help?
How people stumble into their areas of interest is what in fact, makes a personal statement, PERSONAL. Many people will talk about how they loved a subject since they were born, but saying that you read about criminal psychology in a fictional story will give the admissions board a little information about you (that you read, and the types of books you like to read). I would follow it with more serious "research" that you have done about the field that helped solidify your decision to show that you are more serious. You could mention volunteer experiences or professionals you may have spoken to etc to show that you are truly interested. Most importantly, DO NOT LIE. It's fraudulent and if you are discovered, you could have your admission taken away/suspended depending on the school. It's best not to risk it. Best of luck!
