Can the zoom lens from an SLR film camera be used on an SLR digital camera?

I have an old Olympus film camera that doesn't work so I'm getting a new camera and I was wondering if the lens of my old film camera would work on my new digital camera so I wouldn't have to buy new lenses since the old lenses are fine.
