My son's school uniform keeps getting ruined by other children can I ask the school to compensate?

if hes a primary school kid then the school cant legally make him wear uniform. they can strongly request it and make you think its a rule but if you put your foot down they cant do anything, so therefore i would buy a Primark sweatshirt in the same colour.
